I just wanted to get some rest.

April is one of the cruelest months for me: My father’s death on the seventh, followed close by my husband’s birthday on the eleventh. Whiplash. I’ve been tracking my dreams carefully this month and noticed the strangest thing:

A bad dream, a nightmare, and two…….somethings in between.

Bad dreams are distressing, and a nightmare is a bad dream from which you wake yourself. Insomnia treatment has meant fewer nightmares in general, and that they don’t linger for as long.

But two dreams didn’t quite fit the Regular, Bad, Nightmare categories. I woke myself up from the dreams, as in I consciously (sorry) thought “I don’t want to be here anymore” and woke up. But the dreams weren’t nightmares nor were they particularly bad. They weren’t sad or scary. Weird, maybe, but not negative.

Lucid dreams are ones in which the dreamer realizes they are dreamer and can control some amount of it. These “new” dreams could be lucid, then. Does it count if all you control is waking up? I’ll keep tracking.
