I just wanted to get some rest.

Today is Christmas Day, and as I look out my living room window onto a still rather green landscape, “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas” popped into my head.

The song “White Christmas” is from 1942, but longs for an even older past. . .just as today, people long for some older, “better” time. The holidays make us nostalgic; everything was so much easier when we were kids. Because Mom took care of it.

“Just like the ones I used to know” made me think about my insomnia journey. While I’ve had sleep problems since I was a kid, I also remember easily falling asleep in the car, or curled up on the couch, getting tucked in. Clean sheets and jammies just magically appeared. If I can just go back far enough, I can figure out and solve my sleep problems.

Well, I’m dreaming of that, anyway.
